With his Surface Lamp for the Objets Nomades collection, Oki Sato, the designer behind the Nendo Studio, has encased light in leather. A rechargeable lamp is shaped by a sheet of calfskin, perforated to reveal a subtle gradient interpretation of Louis Vuitton’s emblematic Damier motif when the light is on. Between uses, it rolls up and fits into a handy carrying harness – “nomadism” at its best.
